About Todd Baker

From dark to light. From pain to joy. From conflict to color.

I’m Todd Baker, a contemporary fine artist and disabled U.S. Army veteran. I work primarily in acrylic on stretched canvas, creating bold, collectible paintings for people who want their walls to carry real story and lasting, collectible beauty.

From service to the studio

Military service left me with a permanent, service-connected disability. That’s part of my life every day—but it isn’t the end of the story.

Painting became the way I refused to stay in the dark. In the studio, I translate conflict into color, turning pain, memory, and resilience into light, the human form, and moments of quiet intensity. Every canvas is a step toward joy and a reminder that beauty can still win.

What the work is about

On the surface, my paintings are high-end originals meant for beautiful spaces—homes, galleries, offices, penthouses.

Underneath, they’re about:

  • Resilience – living fully with what you’ve been through.

  • Connection – between bodies, nature, and our inner lives.

  • Seeing clearly – slowing down, looking twice, and thinking for yourself in a noisy world.

I’m interested in that line where beauty and honesty meet—where a painting stops being decor and becomes a quiet challenge to really see.

Veterans, democracy, and critical thinking

As a veteran, I care deeply about what happens to those who served—and about the health of the democracy we swore to protect.

I believe in rights, freedoms, and in citizens who ask hard questions instead of accepting easy answers. That shows up in the work itself and in where the money goes: 5% of every sale made on this website is donated to VoteVets and other pro-democracy, rights-and-freedoms organizations that amplify veterans’ voices and defend the rule of law. When you collect my work, you’re investing in original art and helping support a culture that values veterans, critical thinking, and a functioning democracy.

For collectors

My original paintings are one-of-a-kind acrylic works on stretched canvas. They are never discounted—scarcity and integrity matter, for you and for the long-term value of the work.

Each original includes:

  • A signed Certificate of Authenticity

  • Documentation of the piece

  • Professional, gallery-ready presentation

I also offer a limited number of carefully controlled editions on metal and canvas. Once an edition is closed, it stays closed.

A personal note

If you’re here, you’re probably looking for more than something that just matches the furniture.

I paint for people who have lived through things, who still choose light, and who want their space to reflect that choice—with beauty, with honesty, and with a mind that stays awake.

Thanks for spending a little time in my world.
